“The impulse to pursue God originates with God, but the out working of that impulse is our following hard after Him; and all the time we are pursuing Him we are already in His hand: “Thy right hand upholdeth me.” —Spurgeon
When I put someone else’s interests above my own

When biblical truths hit me unexpectedly

AHAHA SO TRUE

I heard a great message through Hosea this morning on how God’s love is relentless and how we are to display this relentless love to others, and I really wanted to share! Isaiah Qualls reminds us that we are a reflection and representation of God to those around us. He posed the question, “Who in your life are you telling a lie about God to?” Is the love I give in my relationships with people a relentless love as God gives to me? Happy Tuesday!

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:6-8

When I think truly about just how good God is and how holy and righteous He is… I am SO blown away that He loves me though I continually fail Him, and He loved me even when I was in lost in sin… and loved me so much that he sacrificed His only begotten Son—Jesus—perfect and holy—in the most unbearable way of punishment, that I might draw near to Him and spend eternity in His presence and in His grace.

I am so unworthy, but still You love me… I can’t believe it. Thank You, Jesus. Thank You, God for Your love for me. I am so captivated by You.

“There is no place for laziness and indulgence of the body in a disciplined pursuit of holiness. We have to learn to say no to the body instead of continually giving in to its momentary desires. We tend to act accordingly to our feelings. The trouble is, we seldom “feel” like doing what we should do. We don’t feel like getting out of bed to have our morning time with God, or doing Bible study, or praying, or anything else we should do [like love others]. That is why we have to take control of our bodies and make them our servants instead of our masters.” —Jerry Bridges - Pursuit of Holiness
“Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” —Colossians 4:6
“Earthly kingdoms have a purpose in that they restrain wickedness and preserve order, but they are very different from God’s kingdom, and should remain separate and distinct.
The heavenly kingdom, exemplified by Jesus and the cross, is based on love, sacrifice, humility, and righteousness… Christians must take care that they live and serve with the power demonstrated by the cross, not the power of Rome. The key to living in Jesus’ kingdom is not found in trying to rule over others or things, but in being more fully ruled by God.”

David Guzik (Commentary on John 18)

“What I am anxious to see in Christian believers is a beautiful paradox. I want to see in them the joy of finding God while at the same time they are blessedly pursuing Him. I want to see in them the great joy of having God yet always wanting Him.”

A. W. Tozer.

Reminds me of Jeremiah 29:13. :)

Dear forgetful brain,

Don’t let your greatest strength get the best of you.

Thank you Abi for always reminding me of this.
